ENGINEERS MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

SJEC Celebrated 60 Years

The San Joaquin Engineers Council will mark its 60th anniversary with a grand celebration at its annual banquet in February 2027. The event will be a tribute to the Council's rich history, with the highlight being the presentation of the 60th Engineer of the Year and the Distinguished Service Award recipient.

The Council was established in 1966 by a group of engineers from various disciplines with the aim of forming a social group, supporting students who wanted to become engineers, and recognizing engineers who made substantial contributions to the engineering community. The group initially called themselves the San Joaquin Council of Engineers, but later changed their name to San Joaquin Engineers Council when they incorporated as a non-profit corporation. Today, SJEC and its member organizations represent over 1,000 engineers, design firms, and allied professionals.

SJEC's Scholarship Award Program is a unique initiative that sets it apart from other organizations. It is the only program of its kind where engineers and allied professionals come together to support students pursuing an engineering education. Since 1979, SJEC has awarded over $417,000 in scholarships to 319 deserving students. In 2026, the Council awarded eight scholarships totaling $20,000.
